A Jacket, Plaid Grey By Sarah Valkenaar

A jacket, plaid grey,
She'll wear every day
To events and movies,
To church and to studies.

A jacket, plaid grey,
What can one say
That makes her want to change
The way she might arrange?

A jacket, plaid grey,
She would wear it on Broadway.
To part with this jacket
Would be quite an offset

A jacket, plaid grey,
She would never give away.
How sad that would be
Like a dead monkey.

And so this jacket
She will take off at sunset,
And dream of tomorrow
For again she will again show
The vibrant jacket of plaid grey
That she will give to her child someday.
